] i made an armature map of nautilus; made sure to measure out the height at 6 inches before i did. i then took a marker and drew in a skeleton. the skeleton will be made in armature wire.
] i made the skeleton in 1/16in and wrapped it in a smaller gauge wire. i then affixed the skeleton to a base that i made using a wooden base from michael's (cost 1.99) and a threaded rod from home depot (cost .99). i used 1/16 wire and baked a wad of super sculpey to the skeleton and then connected it to the base for cheap stabilization.
] bulked it with foil.
] added clay to the foil. a rough sketch of nautilus.
] kept refining the sketch.
] used a soft brush to get rid of fingerprints and then went in to do textures and details.
] baked and primered. i used tamiya fine surface primer in a large can of light grey.
] painted up! used liquitex soft and heavy acrylic paints.
